I think you're right. You'll need to send the board back to MSI for repair or buy a new one. And use the stand alone BIOS update utility next time you flash the BIOS!

bios flashing is all your own risk as stated... if its a socketed bios chip you could replace it your self if its soldered in you will have to send it to msi for repairs .. just e-mail them and see where you stand on this and hope for the best

I beleave asrock and gigabyte have 2 bios , but the gigabyte is not independent and the asrock is with a switch between the 2 and removable chips --[I never had to use it so really don't know if there true independent bios or like gigabytes recovery set up??]

Have you tried clearing the CMOS? If not, it's worth a go. A corrupted CMOS setup can give these symptoms.

You'll probably have to reinstall windows if you switch to a mobo with a different chipset. So if you're using an OEM version of windows , you'll have to buy another license.

It's best if your current RAM is on the compatibility list of any replacement mobo that you're considering. If not, you may need to buy new RAM as well. FYI, it may still work even if it's not on the list, but there's no guarantee. It's worth doing a Google search to see if anyone is reporting such compatibility issues.

I'm a big ASUS fan, so I would definitely support that choice. I've used no other brand for nearly ten years. But Asrock is also a reputable brand, and very popular.

heres what it is on the asrock z87 exe6

This motherboard has two BIOS chips, a primary BIOS (BIOS_A) and a backup BIOS (BIOS_
B), which enhances the safety and stability of your system. Normally, the system will work
on the primary BIOS. However, if the primary BIOS is corrupted or damaged, just flip the
BIOS Selection Switch to “B”, then the backup BIOS will take over on the next system boot.
After that, use “Secure Backup UEFI” in the UEFI Setup Utility to duplicate a working copy
of the BIOS files to the primary BIOS to ensure normal system operation. For safety issues,
users are not able to update the backup BIOS manually. Users may refer to the BIOS LEDs
(BIOS_A_LED or BIOS_B_LED) to identify which BIOS is currently activated.

it just looks as if msi has no safe way to flash no mater how or what you do

sorry for the late response, I have read through the forum links and it seems like it is a common problem with live update. In future i won't be updating my BIOS unless it really necessary. I also have requested a RMA from msi and i am currently waiting for a response, i hope that my motherbaord can go through the rma process fairly quickly but i also know that rma a component can take a few months
