New GPU; but much slower rendering (Sony Vegas)

So I upgraded my GPU from a ATi Radeon HD6850 to ATi Radeon R9 270X, a much faster one. Especially for gaming but I also render videos on Sony Vegas.

Now here's the thing. On my old GPU it would render (through OpenCL in the settings on Vegas) a 30min video in about 10min. Pretty decent. Then with my new GPU I just tried rendering and what do I see.. a 30min video is going to take 1 and a half hour!

Something must be wrong here. Trying to figure out what exactly. I already made sure that it's rendering with the GPU and not the CPU. I also upgraded my motherboard but did not reinstall Windows (8.1) nor did I get new GPU drivers. I was contemplating to reinstall anyway but it felt like everything was running fine. I do get much better performance now in games though, so the card isn't faulty or anything.. it's just the rendering in Sony Vegas that apparently doesn't function as it should. It can't be right that my shitty old card should do better rendering then this new one.

Anyone any idea? Should I just try and reinstall my GPU drivers / Windows?

Solution
Yeah get hold of MSI Afterburner and check the GPU load during a render. Also > Make sure you are rendering with a format that is OpenCL friendly. Sony AVC fx
