Here is my setup... Cox svc, with 100meg down speeds. I have the wireless Cisco router/modem and now the linksysAC1200 router behind it. I bought the linksys because the Cisco from Cox was not handling the wireless load I have in my house :) . Now my alarm system, ip cameras and home automation are hardwired/ wireless connected to the Cisco, but everything else is working through the new linksys. The linksys is dropping svc (unreachable) every 10 or so minutes. The linksys is static to the Cisco and both routers are using DHCP because I have things connected to both routers... Could that be conflicting?( I wouldn't think so) also all wireless have seperate channels and MHz spreads. I have both routers set up with exact same DNS settings too... I may have forgotten a few troubleshooting things I have done... But the idea here for me now is to get some "out of the box" thinking going on. Please respond no matter how irrelevant you think it may be... Sometimes the simplest things get overlooked

Only one device should be issuing DHCP and allocated for DNS.

modem---->linksys--->dhcp,dns,firewall,upnp etc etc
linksys----->cisco--->everything that makes a router should be off except lan/wifi,dns and gateway should be pointing to linksys

Cisco should be connected to Linksys via the lan ports on both.

Well I would agree that the linksys should have dhcp off, but that shouldn't matter because they have different ip's. Cox has 192.168.0.1 and linksys has 192.168.1.1. My problem isn't dhcp via cox router...or atleast it "shouldn't" be!
