basically im looking for a new gaming keyboard, and i have looked at the cherry mx switches for a while but i just cant seem to get which one is different and in what way, the diagrams on some sites that try to explain the differences are pretty poor as they are all basically the same, which imo is kinda a crappy example as i know for a fact they are the complete opposite...
I type quite a bit in messages and such, but i also game, mmos and rpgs and a mix of the 2 are my style (ie Crysis 3 BF4 League of Legends etc) and all i wanna know is what is the best option for me?

Depends on the volume you want. If you don't mind loud clickety clackety keyboards, then blue switches would be nice. Red's are nice also. If you want more quiet sound but still mechanical, look at browns. Diagrams don't really do much other than show you how the switches work. It's more of something you should feel out in my opinion.

I have a Cherry MX Blue switch keyboard and it's nice and all, but the noise is pretty noticeable. Some people can hear it over skype and usually my mic is the one that has the best sound suppression. If you get bothered by the noise, get a standard keyboard with anti-ghosting and you'll be fine. I played on a microsoft keyboard prior to having this mx blue keyboard, and it worked fine.

Haha, I was a bit confused there.

As for the keyboard, if you want a lower noise level, I suggest just getting a standard keyboard with antighosting. They'll work just as well. As I said before, I used a microsoft keyboard before. I don't remember the exact model, but it worked well. Even when playing starcraft and some fps games. Prior to that I just used one of those gummy keyboards or whatever the hell they are. They output no noise what so ever, but it did die roughly a year or so after I got it. It's a nice keyboard that had practically no sound, but the buttons did need quite a bit of force to type and what not.

If you want an easy to type with keyboard, blue switches are probably your best bet, but your going to have sound as an issue. Otherwise, maybe look at browns.

Maybe this article will help: http://www.pcworld.com/article/242036/mechanical_keyboa...

Personally I like the Red's but it's all preference man. It's really a gamble until you've had some hands on with each. I would suggest going to a store that has some of these different keyboards and asking them if they can pull them out of the box to let you get a feel for what each switch is like. I know Best Buy let me do it.

I like the Red series; it is a preference and it also depends on what colour you like your keyboard to be haha.
