Hello Just built a new pc and I am having several problems with it.

Firstly I noticed the CPU is hitting over 100C under high load.(at idle it sits around 27C) It takes only a few seconds to reach this temp then crashes or throttles itself.(1.25 V any lower it does not like) Have tried aftermarket coolers and different thermal paste. Also let a professional pc fixer have a go at installing the heatsink and we are both convinced its on fine with an even layer of paste.

So i assumed it was a bad CPU however I am not so sure as there are some other problems I have encountered: Sometimes the USB ports dont work. Sometimes plugging one in breaks the others. Sometimes they all work fine. sometimes plugging in a usb device crashes the pc.
After a crash the machine has to be left for 10 mins or there will be no picture on the screen.

My specs are: i7 4790k CPU
Corsair 650W PSU
Gigabyte z79x gaming GT motherboard
Samsung 250gb SSD
MSI 7700GTX 2gb
some 14cm fans
A blu ray player/dvd burner/.
ASUS dx2 soundcard.

All of the above are brand new. The only old component is a six month old 2Tb hdd that gave no sign of not working well in my old machine.

I have no idea myself just guessing it could be the motherboard?

Thanks John

Sounds like a flaky motherboard to me.

Sorry it is probably not what you wanted to hear but at least all of your stuff is new enough you should be able to RMA it all. Address all possibilities and RMA the CPU and board at the same time.

Was the CPU. New one from the same batch is also quite hot though bearable.
