First gaming PC is extremely slow during Windows installation takes 2 hours per page. Why?

I also dropped my hard drive on the ground so that may have something to do with it. Although it's still being detected by my motherboard. But before I go out and buy another hard drive I'd really like to ask if that's the problem. Would taking 20 minutes per page in windows 8.1 installation be explained by a faulty hard drive?

I need a direct answer before making the purchase please help.

What do you mean per page? Are you talking about a web browser?

No like I said I haven't even installed Windows yet because the PC will just sit in the hard drive selection screen loading for 5 hours straight and the same for every other page in windows installation.

I would get a blank CD and download SeaTools for DOS and have it run a short then long test on the hard drive, chances are it is broken or heavily damaged because you dropped it. SeaTools for DOS will tell you if it is still functioning.

Would I be able to run the CD without having windows installed?

Yes it runs before Windows boots, you may have to press a F key like F10 to temporarily set it as the boot device.
