Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-08-18 21:35 BST+0100 My question is: I know you can get an unlocked version of this CPU to over clock. Is this necessary for over clocking. Is there no way to do it without? Thanks

Solution

The g3258 is the unlocked one......its even in the title of the review you posted and thats what he selected.

If you buy the 3258, you must OC it thats the point of the cpu, alot of mobos can OC it, you no longer need a z series chipset.

For tips on the build, i suggest 8 gigs of ram and a better brand psu, myself and others have had bad experiances with corsair psu's.

Getting another stick of ram would be the first upgrade, a month or two after I build it.

Well I'm looking to do gaming ( playing skyrim after school, ect.) So I would over clock, but not too much as I have zero experience with overclocking , I don't want to fry it (I'm perfectly fine I think with stock clock, but I might push it for better performance). I don't really know how much I will over clock. Let's find out when I build it.
