1.65 volt ram?

I have heard that 1.65 volt ram will not run at it's full potential unless I do something in the bios. I am a newb to stuff like this so could anyone explain to me if this is true, and if it is link me to a tutorial or explain how to do this. Im thinking of getting the Asus M5A99FX R 2.0 and amd gamer ram.

Here is what I think you are talking about. It's call XMP (extreme memory profile) and you must enable it in the BIOS. Since I don't know what motherboard you have, here is a guide to a few different boards. Best of luck!
