Any reason you chose it over the gigabyte windforce which goes for 380?

The Gigabyte Windforce edition is pretty good, but when it comes to AMD cards,Sapphire is the best,in terms of noise and temps. ;)
I personally have a Sapphire R9 270 Dual-X. I can't hear it,even when gaming and the temps never go past 55C. :)
All the best. :)

Before you upgrade, find a seller for your GTX 760. The performance difference is not worth the price of a slightly higher end card.

Benchmarks for comparison~

The R9 290 is not on there but the R9 290x is almost the same and that would be double my fps

Even if the new card end up being expensive there is a good chance current generation of card might get price drop. AMD most likely going to drop their price since it looks like they don't have answers for nvidia new 880. AMD will release new GPU (Tonga) but from the way I heard about it was suppose to replace Tahiti based card in terms of performance. Same performance as 280X/280 but at much lower power consumption. Latest info/rumor from VCZ says that AMD will launch Radeon based Tonga on 23rd of this month (paper launch with actual hardware availability in September). As for 880 the rumor said the MSRP will be around 400-450 with performance below 780 Ti (or exceeding 780 Ti). But many did not believe that nvidia will going cheap with 880 if the performance really did exceed 780 Ti.

Stick with NVidia if you enjoy the quieter and cooler performance.
I've had several AMD cards, and I didnt like the way they ran hot and loud, even with the better coolers.
Maybe I'm just more sensitive to PC noise than anyone else, but NVidia's pretty silent.

The 880 is supposed to cost 450-500 dollars.

A better card can be cheaper depending on how it's made.
Just cause its cheaper doesnt always imply it'll be worse.
