Hi just wanted to get some advice on some parts that I wanna buy.

I'm looking to buy a new cpu, motherboard, and ram. I've done some searching and I think im gonna go with this:

I7 4790k
ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 2400

First I read that the i5 would be good enough but i wanna have something thats gonna last me awhile. Second I've read mostly good things about the motherboard does anyone have any input they think I should know about this. And lastly is that ram a good choice for the motherboard and will I have problems with clearance I was thinking about getting the Phanteks cooler.

Thanks

Are you just gaming? If so 16gb of ram is wayy overkill 8gb of ram is more than enough and no you dont need an i7 i would go with an i5 4690k.

Yeah, the I7 has 4 more Threads but those aren't really used in gaming. So save $100 and get a cooler for a I5 4690k and OC it.

So in the near future you don't think the i7 would be worth it even if i wanted to run fraps or anything else while gaming. Sorry if my questions are annoying just don't wanna spend money now and 6 months to a year be wishing i would of spent the extra 100.

Thanks for the input though

No, if you want to record use a free software like Shadowplay or AMDs thing, or get a second Recording HDD/SSD to record to which would get rid of most of the performance hit. What a I7 helps with is productivity. So if you plan to use the PC for productivity a lot a I7 might be for you. Well in 2011 the I5 2500k, and I7 2600k were released. So now they still give the same performance. So I would say that a I7 would not be for future proof than a I5.
Also the questions are NP, thats what we are here for.

If you have the money go for it but as it stands right now an i7 is not worth close to 100 dollars more for a gamer if you want to be as future proof as possible use that hundred to save up for a new graphics card down the road.

Ok thanks was just wondering. I plan on buying a new gpu in a few weeks after this and maybe get a 2nd a few weeks after that. So since i got that all figured out guess i should just ask in this thread too.

I was thinking about what gpu to get and wanted a little advice on it too. My thoughts so far are the 760 or 770 haven't really looked at the ati cards (had bad luck with them in the past). Would it be better to get 2 760's or just save for the 770 or even the 780?

Thanks again for all the help

I'd just get a single GTX 780. But two GTX 760, are faster, same with GTX 770 which is faster then a GTX 780 Ti when you SLI it. (The GTX 770)

I'd advise you to get a single 780, less hassle with single gpu and imo more reliable, not to mention that leaves a upgrade path for you to sli 780 when you have the money, and go for the cooler on top link, that cooler is probably second best air cooler right now so if you can stand the brown colours then get that
