I just got two Zotac GTX 770s. One I got a couple days before the other, so I used the one in my machine for a while. It worked just fine, idle the temperature was at around 30 degrees. Now that I have both in, however, they're running at 63 degrees. (celsius)

Do you guys have any ideas as to why that is?

yeah because you have 2 cards running the temperature obviously will increase

There is far less ventilation and the cards are extremely close together (almost touching). There is no easy way for the thing to cool off without loading your case full of additional fans. 2 cards will never run as cool as a single. Graphics cards put off quite a bit of heat.. and with them being so close, they are heating eachother.

Are you running them in SLI?

They are putting off alot of heat when under load. The whole case's temperature has been increased due to that extra card. You need to invest in some additional fans if you want to keep the temps down. But like i said... with two cards it's never going to be as cool as the single.

Yeah they're in SLi. The motherboard said that for "optimum bandwidth" for 2 cards was for the cards to be in the configuration I set them up in. I just find it really weird that, even when they're idle, they're sitting at 60.

Interesting. Go ahead and download MSI Afterburner and start experimenting with fan speeds etc.

Interestingly enough, turning off SLi, leaving it for a while, and turning it back on seems to have fixed the issue. They're now both comfortably below 40, which is much better than doubling the temperature.
tl;dr Reboot the cards if you have the same issue.

EDIT: By the way, MSI Afterburner did show that the gpu monitoring program I am using (GPU Meter with Windows 8 Gadgets) is only picking up one of the temperature readings, and yes they're on different video cards.

How many monitors are you running?

Multiple monitors can cause high idle temperatures.

even if you put the first card on the topest most pci slot and the other card at the bottom of the pci slot the ambient tempature of the case would heat up thus increasing the cards tempature you wont really be able to fix this unless you put a custom water cooling loop in your system
