SPDIF input headers have disappeared from motherboards, it seems. I cannot find a single mb from any of the big manufacturers. What happened? Do you know of any? Is there a workaround?

just look for a motherboard which sports 5.1 surround... it will have it, and some of the 7.1 surround will have them as well. the Asus Sabertooth still has one... i know because i'm using one on my Sabertooth 990fx r2.0; my previous two boards had them as well (M5A99X evo, M4A78T-E); the thing of it is, spdif/optical cables are capped at 5.1 surround sound (perfect audio quality, just limited channels) so many of the 7.1 surround sound boards just don't have those headers anymore.

your other option is to get an older pci-e sound card with 5.1...

My Rampage IV Extreme Black has two S/PDIF Outputs but No S/PDIF Inputs. Therefore I cannot send Audio from my TV to my PC. But I can send Audio from my PC to my TV.
I need a S/PDIF INPUT on my motherboard.
