I need help. In 2010, I have divided my drive C into 2 partitions naming the 2nd one as drive M. I stored my photos in drive M with no issues for about a year. Then one day, I suddenly could not see drive M to access my photos. Looking at disk mgnt, the partition shows but letter is not there anymore. I need to be able to recover those precious photos. I have no issues with drive C.

If I right click on the drive, one of the choices is "mark partition as active" I get this message which I did not go through as I dont want to risk more damage:
Only mark a partition as active if it contains a functioning operating system. If the partition lacks an operating system, marking it active might cause your computer to stop working. Do you want to continue?

Another option was change drive letter or path, then I get this error message:
The operation failed to complete because Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer.

Other options were Format and Delete Volume. Of course I did not do these as I want to recover those precious photos of my babies.

Please help me what to do. I am not an expert user but can take some guidance. Would appreciate any help you can provide. From: sai4tony
