Used evga 770, experinced advice?

Hey, someone local is selling a 4gb evga 770 in my area for about 300 bucks. Risks of buying used gpu? I was shooting for the asus 780, but 200 is a lot of dough, What do you guys think?

He also has replaced the cooler with a titan cooler (the original is also included), any concerns I should have?

You could get yourself a brand new R9 280X with a full warranty. There is the chance that you might ask him if there's any time left on the warranty and if there was would he be willing to do the RMA if you end up having a problem. However you'll have to put the stock cooler back on if you end up with a problem.

I would just go with the R9 280X instead.

Well if you want to sacrifice a little quietness and cooler temperatures with an R9 280X, thats a cheaper and stronger alternative.
However if you plan to stick with NVidier, I'd buy a new GPU, as replacing the cooler (why would he, the Titan and 770 both use the same cooler) means voiding the warranty for any repairs or replacements.

the safest (for me) part when buying 2nd hand is the cpu, as they rarely break.

the least safe, HDD. for your peace of mind, get a new one. unless you know the person and you can easily reach him if there's an issue.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses, he changes the cooler because the titan has cool led's I believe, I couldn't care less though, I would use a gpu that looks like a piece of tin foil if it worked. I shall think for now. I'm on the fence about the 280x mainly because I'll be doing video editing. Thanks again

If you're going to do alot of video editing and rendering and whatnot, you'd want an ACTUAL Titan.

No issue buying used if you can test, but only worth it if its much cheaper than new.
