Hi, I have the razor bf4 blackshark headset. I really like them but I have started experiencing an issue. I recently upgraded my os from an hdd to an ssd with a clean install but since installing windows on the ssd the headset mic is not working and I could not find any solution. I searched drivers and everything but found nothing. Just to clarify it worked perfectly when the os was on the hdd and I doubt it would break in that 10 mins of time that it took it swap os. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks :) .

Check to make sure your sound drivers are installed and the most current (ASUS should have the drivers on their website).

I have all the latest drivers for everything in my system. I got lots of them from asus. My bios is also up to date.

Have you tried the headset on another computer? That would be an easy way to verify the headset is not working or if it is the PC.

I don't have access to another computer right now. I will try it on another pc tomorrow and update the thread.

Thanks :) .

Sorry I took long to respond. I tried two mics on my pc none of them worked. I tried the same two on a different pc and they worked perfectly. I believe it is a driver issue but I cannot find any mic drivers installed. I realized that when I use the mic on my pc it says Anvsoft mic and on the other pc that it worked on it just says high definition mic.

Thanks.

If you had the case open - it is possible (I have done it) that you bumped a wire and the connection became unseated - double check your front panel connector (I am assuming this is where you plugged in the microphone). Also - try plugging it in the rear.

The case is closed. No wires were touched. They might have been when I upgraded my psu but I doubt it. The pc detects the mic. It simply doesn't show any sound. I will check the connector later when I get home.

Thanks :) .

I checked the connector. It was fine. Mic still isn't working.

Have you tried the driver from Realtek instead of ASUS? It should be this one: High Definition Audio Codecs (Software) - http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?...

I haven't tried it. I will try it now. Do I need to uninstall anything before trying this?

Thanks.

I don't think you need to uninstall it. The realtek drivers will install and uninstall from the control panel (uninstall a program), where the standard microsoft drivers do not....they should also remove the previous drivers.

I discovered a new issue as result to the driver which fixed the mic. Whenever I have it installed the mic works but the speakers don't (headset doesn't work either). When it's not installed headset works and mic doesn't. Any suggestions?

Most headsets have both microphone and speakers plugs for your front panel. When you insert the headphones into the speaker jack, it should disable the speakers. Some audio drivers have settings to disable that feature. Check the settings of the drivers - also make sure that your front panel is setup as normal audio - not HD audio (this is for 5.1 or 7.1 audio connections).
