Hey, so i have a little bit of knowledge on PC, im a newbie to actually building them tho, i'm looking to upgrade my PC hardware, here are my current specs, what areas should i invest in? I can run everything pre 2014 games on max settings, new games that come out, on medium, to even low for a smooth FPS

But with a first gen i5 released in 2009. And five years later, don't you think a more recent GPU will bottleneck it?

Both fairly old, but the 6850 has aged more. A GPU like a GTX 760/AMD 280 will feel twice as fast as your 6850 without CPU bottleneck.

Expect about 5-20 less FPS than a faster CPU. Upgrade the CPU ASAP to minimize FPS dips and average FPS high.

Remember: You can get a brand new 4th Gen i5 tower for $400-$450 so don't invest too much in your old system.

Well, if you can get a i5 prebuilt for 400, I wasted a lot of time suggesting builds from PCPartPicker. Just switch the PSU and GPU

It wasn't a waste, you probably had higher end parts for not much more but companies like Lenovo and ASUS get better prices than we do and at times be competitive when they aren't trying to completely gouge customers for $700+ i3 systems.

Building a computer if you know what you're doing is far more consistent than trying to find a good deal on a prebuilt tower. People don't take the time to look up information on the processor and a lot of the time end up buying very slow machine without even knowing it.

I figure anyone posting on here can either build or buy prebuilt and upgrade as needed as long as the cost effectiveness is there. I also like to recommend prebuilds with fast processors + new PSU & GPU as can at times be less intimidating to new PC gamers and super easy do.
