Yeah, the usual recommendation is get an i5. You don't really need the K series unless you are planning on overclocking, though it appears you do intend to. Of course, that also means changing out your motherboard.

I like AMD GPUs - Really, they're roughly as good as Nvidia for a lower cost. Only pitfalls are PhysX and power consumption, which coincidentally are two things I really care about. That's why I got my GTX 750 Ti. However, for most people AMD cards are a great choice.

Having said that - The FX series of CPU is not meant for gaming and is a failure for gaming. They offer a great price/performance ratio for rendering only, not gaming.
A Pentium G3258 beats the FX-4300 at that price point; an i3-4150 beats an FX-6300 at that price point; an i5-4430 or i3-4370 beats an FX-8320 or FX-8350 at that price point; an i5-4690 beats an FX-9370 at that price point; an i7-4770 beats an FX-9590 at that price point.
Yes, in certain games (like BF4) AMD poured a ton of money into development to optimize for the extremely poor Vishera architecture (allowing them to nearly match Intel there), but that is not a typical comparison and you'll find hundreds of pages across the internet of people running all FX CPUs plagued by bottlenecks and unspeakable performance drops in any CPU-intensive game which AMD does not pour money into. (every single MMO ever made, and a great many triple-A titles)

I would strongly recommend an i5-4460 or i5-4590 over that FX-8350. An i5-4690K if you can spare the money and firmly intend to overclock, though overclocking is not actually needed on Intel CPUs.
