I just installed Windows XP Sp3 on my old PC with an Asus motherboard. I use the original Asus motherboard CD for driver installation, after a fresh OS installation and it always worked without any glitches. This time while installing the Realtek Ethernet Setup, towards the end of the installation this message showed up-'Please shut down and plug Realtek PCIE card to complete the installation.' I clicked the finish button and the setup ended. The Realtek Ethernet driver is listed in the Add & Remove Programs in the Control Panel. But the "Ethernet Controller" is listed under Other Devices, with a yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager. There is also a system tray icon that says a new device is found. As you know there's nothing to plug in or out. This has never ever happened before with this driver software. What must I do to fix this issue? I've already tried reinstalling several times & using the repair option in the Add & Remove Programs section. That doesn't do the trick & I still get the same message. So please let me know. Thanks ahead.

Pete :)

I need an Internet connection to update the driver and I need the basic Ethernet Controller driver, on the motherboard CD to work to get an Internet connection. Until now I had XP sp2 and the driver on the CD worked. I installed XP sp3 and I get the above mentioned message. Hope I have answered your question.

Quote Jeckel What's the exact model of motherboard?

This is it I guess. It's what I found on the motherboard CD. Asus P5KPL-AM/PS. The motherboard CD also has these details on it. It supports Windows 7 and Intel G31 Chipset. Although I've been using it on Windows XP SP2 without any problems for a very long time. I installed SP 3 and I got the glitch message mentioned before. Hope I have answered your question.

Obviously you have a connection available or you wouldn't be able to post here. Use the system you are now on to download the driver to a USB thumbdrive and install from there.

@ Ex- Bubblehead

I'm posting from my iPhone. I don't think the drivers can be downloaded onto one. I can't find the quote option on this website. Maybe it's because I'm using the cell phone website version. Do you know where I can find the latest Ethernet Controller drivers for my motherboard? This is my motherboard - Asus P5KPL-AM/PS. Please let me know thanks.

@ Sarathor Again go through all that hassle of installing?! No way! I've already installed all the programs that I need and have done all necessary customizations for both OS and other installed softwares. I just need the Ethernet driver to work. It used to work just fine on XP SP2 until I got fed up with the OS because of it's bugs and did the XP SP3 installation from a torrent I downloaded recently. The downloaded OS is all good and works smoothly. No blue screen of death as of yet. Maybe I need a driver that supports XP SP3. All I need now is to find that driver. Please help me to find it. You can find the mother board version in the earlier posts. Thanks.

@ Yingda Wang That's good news, if you're sure about it. I recently tried to download torrents and couldn't. I got the message that the phone didn't recognize the file. Worked on an android just fine though. I'll try and see. Thanks.
