My pc is getting on 4 years old and wanted to increase graphics performance without spending too much so I bought a second gtx 580 to run in sli mode. Im just not sure if my 750watt psu will beable to take the extra load.

my specs are:
intel core i7 950 @3.07 ghz
2x GTX 580 sli
12 gb ram
corsair TX750 watt psu
I have 4 fans 1 is 120mm
256 gb ssd
1tb hdd

thanks for the help

You should be fine as long as you dont overclock the gpu's.

Unfortunately not. The GTX580 is a very power hungry card.

The below was tested with a system very similar to yours. Now while you have a very high quality PSU, I would still not run SLI GTX580s on it.

i7 950 - 135w
gtx 580 - 244w
gtx 580 - 244w

That's 623w or 52a, plus another couple amps for the rest (HDD, dvd, fans etc) so say 54a. Your PSU is rated for 60a on the +12v and it's a good PSU so it will deliver what it says, and you'll be running at 90% load as a maximum.

So pretty much as gamer1357 says, you'll be fine if you don't OC the GPUs :)

Novuake that power consumption must be measured at the wall... does it say what PSU they used?

I would suggest you buy a cheap plug-in electricity monitor before you go out and spend money on a new PSU.

For the cost of a 580+ new PSU you could probably have bought a more efficient single GPU...
