290x vs 780ti

How does the AMD R9 290x compare with its NVIDIA Counterpart the 780ti? i have a pretty awesome gaming rig and i am still tied between these 2 cards, i love both and most reviews say they give pretty much the same performance and the only difference is price, i am leaning towards the 290x mainly because of AMD's new MANTLE API and because its a fair bit cheaper.

Is this a wise decision?

If you run multiple monitors-> get AMD for its VRAM and Eyefinity
If you do stuff in image/video rendering and like details in gaming-> get nVidia for its CUDA, Advanced Physx, etc.
Overall, the 780 Ti might be a little expensive compared to the 290x, but it's well worth it. SLI would be a wise decision.

The 290x's price has skyrocketed because of the cryptocurrency miners' demand.
