Do a drive test, there may be a utility in the BIOS or you can use a boot disk like HIRENS or Ultimate Boot CD, both of them have drive check utilities.
If that checks out OK, you need to use the Windows media to run a Repair setup of Windows.

There are a couple of things you could try. First, a three finger salute (ctl-alt-delete). then open up "Task Manager". You should be able to end the proccess of the diagnostics right here. If for some reason that doesn't work you can always re-boot your PC.
