Hey guys,
First time post here. I frequently find knowledgeable advice and answers through this forum so I hope somebody can answer my question.
I've had a creative sound blaster soundcard in my build ever before I got an SLI setup. The other day I decided that I was going to take out my soundcard and compare it to the realtek onboard audio of my motherboard. Fired up a game and SLI was working as intended (both GPU usage % was always the same or within 1-3% of each other). I then decided to put my soundcard back in and when I fired up the same game, GPU 1 usage was around 68% and GPU 2 usage was up to 90%. Does having a soundcard impede performance and cause SLI issues? Is this I widely known thing that I just haven't found out about?
When I got SLI I noticed that the usage was never really the same, but the performance was there and I saw SLI videos where usage was different so I never really thought about it too much. Only recently when I took out my soundcard did I notice.
Specs:
Mobo - Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
CPU - AMD FX-8350 @ 4.8ghz
GPU - SLI GTX Titan's
RAM - 16gb 1866mhz
SSD - Kingston Hyper X 240gb
PSU - Corsair AX1200i
Also, I've tried my soundcard in a PCIE x1 and x8 slot. I know they're backwards compatible and the soundcard is only a x1 and the same thing happens regardless of what PCIE slot it's in.
Thanks for any info!
