XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation - Good pick

[Hello guys,

1) Is the XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation a good pick?.

2) Still not sure which GPU is should go for? Looking for a build around CAN$ 2100.

3) Also what's the most important specs I shold look for when I compare different GPUs (ROPS, RAM, CUDA....)

4) Any technical guide or resource to suggest on this topic?

5) For the RAM (8 or 16GB) ?

Looks like a good build. I would go for a different brand 290x, I have heard some bad things about the XFX DD coolers recently. The XFX PSUs are good though.

I would also go for 2x 4Gb ram, so you get dual channel, you will get less performance with 1x8Gb.

Really? I didn't know that 2X4GB was faster than 1X8GB.

Could you explain why?

Sure. These systems (modern desktops, socket 2011 excluded, which are quad channel) have the ability to run in dual channel mode by using two module. This allows it to use both 64bit channels, rather than just one which effectively doubles the memory bandwidth.
