Help with bios

So i just got my Asus maximus VI Impact and i7 4790k and while im getting everything setup i noticed it says to update the bios before using the 4th gen cpus on the website.

But how is this possible without using the cpu ? will it be ok to use the cpu to update the bios ?

If you look at the CPU compatibility table, that requirement doesn't apply to the Core i7-4790K, and in any event it's only suggested you update it, not mandatory:

Where does it say this at? Motherboard manufacturers usually already include up to date BIOS updates installed when a new CPU series on the same socket comes out. If you have to upgrade the BIOS with the 4790K in I'm sure it wouldn't matter.

Just on the website, i was downloading the drivers and such on my laptop and it says;

*Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first update the BIOS using USB BIOS flashback, or download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using it.

so i should be ok to load up and update using the cpu ? under the compatibility page it says this cpu is compatible since bios 1504 (latest is 1505)

If you just ordered your motherboard a week ago and it just came in today, then it probably already has either the 1504 or 1505 BIOS but it would be wise to update it. Being an ROG product Asus probably keeps their line very up to date. You'll be fine :)
