Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a PC that will give me a good foundation for the next two-three years. I have always got really great advice from TomsHardware which has really helped me get the best bang for buck. The last system I got advice building was rock solid for two-three years with not a single blue screen. Really appreciated the help.

I mainly decided to post a thread as I have a few specific conerns when buying a PC. My PC is located in my living room and the parts I buy must be quiet. There is nothing worst than having the sound of a jet fighter in your living room. But I also need something that is overclocked and powerful, getting the best bang for buck.

Here is a break down of the things Tom recommends I answer.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within a week.

Budget Range: $1000-1500

Usage: Gaming and 3D Art (Two-Three monitor Setup Required)

Location: Los Angeles

Parts Preferences: Asus and Corsair have proven to be my favorites.

Overclocking: Yes (Only simple and not extreme, I normally overclock my CPU until I load at 60-70 degrees)

SLI or Crossfire: I prefer a single card to avoid hassles and waiting for driver updates.

Why buying: I recently moved to Los Angeles from England and am without a machine. I sold my old machine before I left so looking to invest in a computer that will give me a solid foundation for the next two-three years.

I already have: Operating System, Monitors, Keyboard and Mouse. I'm just looking for a system.

Solution
Broadwell will only be a node shrink and power consumption update if I remember Intels "Tick-Tock" strategy correctly. Shouldnt really be a worry, Sandy Bridge chips still perform well enough and their 3yrs old at this point.

Dont bother buying a souped up 760 when you can just buy the next better card. 4GB on a 760 is pointless as well.

In terms of noise they will all be reasonable, different coolers will have slightly different decibel ratings but its kind of splitting hairs IMO.

Nope, you dont need a top end board. Once your spending $130~150 on a motherboard (dont know what that is in pounds sorry) youv basically got all the features...

You dont need an 850W PSU if your not getting dual cards. Get something more like 550-650W.
Also there isnt much difference between an 80+ Gold and Bronze PSU other than the sticker price, your talking a 2 or 3% efficiency difference. You wont make back the difference in electricity costs in the useful life of the machine.

I would recommend getting an 840 EVO SSD.
