I am buying PC parts and waiting until each part I want goes on sale, I can build cheaper but the problem is I won't be able to return a defective part to new egg if 30 days pass before I have all my parts and have to call the manufacturer. Basically I want to know what components to save for my last purchase because of high fail rate. I was thinking about buying my hdd last because the prices seem to never change, and they get the most "this didn't work" reviews. Any recommendations for hdds around $50. I was thinking wd green 1tb

I don't know much about which parts fail most often (thankfully none of mine did). I've heard about a lot of defective RAM modules...

Anyway, the WD Green is a good drive, but is meant to be a power saving drive. So when you aren't using it much, it will throttle down to 5400rpm, creating a bit of lag when you start to use it again.
At a similar price point, the Seagate Barracuda is another very reputable drive that is geared more towards performance. The 1Tb model was $50 last time I checked.
