Hello, how are you?
As the tittle says, for gaming at 2560x1440 what is the better graphics card? A Radeon 7990 dual GPU card or a R9 290x?
The games I like are mostly first person shooters and third person action games, like metro, call of duty, battlefield, tomb raider...
At current prices, the 7990 due to being older is cheaper than the 290x.
What is the best option? For now and the near future like a years time? Far cry 4, advanced warfare... And such...

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Cheers!

You can basically say "two 280X's vs 290X" and have the same situation. The 7990 is a dual GPU card, its two 7970's (280X's are rebranded 7970's) on the one board.

Go for the 7990, through I definitely recommend one with an aftermarket cooling solution. That beast runs hot, even with the beefy stock cooling AMD has on the thing.

Thank you for replying. I am really thinking about that 7990...
Just a couple more questions...
Is the 7990 and upgrade from a GTX 770 2gb GDDR5?
From benchmarks I see in games I think so... But just checking...
Also, would the MSI 7990 fit a standard Asus Tytan G30AB case?

Been reading a bit about the 7990. How is the current driver situation?
Are there good stable drivers without micro shuttering?
Any other issues of a 7990 in today's time?

Cheers!

Going to pull the trigger on a 7990.
How is the current situation with drivers?
Any issues?
I read some 2013 reviews that said a lot of issues existed with the drivers...
Are they solved now in 2014?

Cheers!

I'm saying its better than it was, but not completely fixed. How it actually feels, no idea as I dont have one or a dual-GPU setup.

If it has the connectors, I'm inclined to think its capable of supporting it. Though I would be looking into the PSU in more detail than the 700W thats printed on the side.
