old hard drive broken

hey i have an old toshiba laptop and the hard drive was dameged so windows is missing some files and ther are som documents on the hard drive that i want how do i do that

You can always try taking the hard drive out of the laptop and hooking it up to a desktop computer and see if you can access it there. It just depends on what type of "damaged" the hard drive is. If the drive isn't spinning up, or it's clicking, the chances of you recovering data from it are about zero.
