After a month of not using my laptop, I powered on and used my laptop with no issues, but about 20 updates downloaded upon powering off. Upon powering on the next day, Windows successfully configured all the updates and went to the login screen. I did not immediately log in and after about 5 minutes I noticed the screen go black and the laptop powered off.....as if the battery had died, except it was plugged in. Now I can't get anything to come on...no power at all except the white light on the front does come on for a second when I press the power button. I've tried removing the battery and the power cord as instructed above but nothing is working. Can anyone help or offer suggestions ?

I was thinking something similar - that perhaps the power cord had "died", which had caused the battery to drain and not recharge, removing any chance to power up. Thanks for your speedy response.
