Hey guys. So my Windows 8.1 install is really annoying me. i have already installed windows again to try and fix my issue but no luck. Randomly my computer will freeze. The HDD led will go off and i have no disk activity. the only thing i can do is move my pointer on the screen and the screen is the same as when the HDD indicator turned off. It will ever stay like this and require a hard reset or it will stay like this for 3 or 4 minutes and then be fine. i have ran memtest86 and have no errors and i have ran OCCt with no errors for 2 hours. I dont know whats causing it. help!

Solution
Download Seatools and run the short DST. If it passes run the long generic test. If it fails check your cable connections at the motherboard and at the hard drive or SSD. If those are ok and firmly connected, run the short DST again. If it fails again, or if the long generic test fails, run hd tune and retest. If it fails there as well, replace the drive.
