Hi everyone, I will be soon moving into my UNI accommodation in a few weeks and unfortunately my room is a fair distance away from the router meaning I will either have to use WIFI or powerline to make a connection to the internet.

In my experience WIFI has been pretty terrible on all adapters for gaming, I have tried a couple of TP link and netgear USB adapters and they are fine for video streaming and general web activity but when gaming my ping is unstable and I get a lot of rubber banding/ping fluctuation. This happens on all the PCI and USB adapters I have tested however WIFI on other devices like my games consoles and laptops seem to be much more stable for some reason.

I have heard some mixed things about the Homeplug Powerline solution do any of you recommend this and is it as stable as a normal Ethernet connection? Thanks.

Solution
homeplugs are usually better than wifi, but it depends on the wiring in the house too= new/old,how well connected.
You just have to try to find out really.

Thanks for the reply Vic. I have ordered one of these to test out before I go: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00620CZ64/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hopefully it will be as stable as the hard wire connection. Like I said previously wifi is just awful when playing games the ping is completely unstable on all the adapters I have tried.
