Hi,

These are the specs of this computer.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
Video Card 1 Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
Video Card 2 Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
Memory 3.9 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
PSU EVGA 500w
Motherboard OptiPlex 960
(Its a DELL build)

Is it capable of playing new games and if so what graphics card would you recommend for under £70 ish.

Edit

Could push budget upto just below £100 if its worth it for this pc.

this is a newer model and a higher model, will provide a little better performance without a big price increase

Again, anything under a GTX x50 is not meant for gaming, and there is no point buying one when you want to game and can afford a gaming card.

There is no point at all in buying a GT 630 (which is not for playing games), when a GTX 750 is in your budget.

the op is in europe/england, so newegg in us dollars isnt an option. a 750 isnt in the budget either

Sorry, I did overlook that. But the OP can still get a gaming level card in his budget, where he lives:

the 740 is about as powerful as the 650. thats how the evolution of gpus will go. the 770 is about the 680, the 760 is about the 670, and the 750 is about the 660

The GTX 650 is much better than the GT 740, and the rest of that "GPU evolution" isn't true at all. The 660 is about 22% faster in general than the 750.

its a general statement, they arent all exactly the same. the 760 and 670 are pretty close, and the 770 and 680 are pretty close. the 750 is a little different, its more about power consumption then all out performance, efficiency wise the 750 destroys the 650.

heres some benchmarks

sure, its on a linux, but so is the 650. they are about the same sorta.

If you are going for £100 as your budget. I still wouldn't recommend the high end cards that everybody will recommend as it will bottleneck your CPU and system. So here's one that should be perfect and a great balance with the Core 2 Duo.

i second joeteoh's option. with the higher budget the 750 will do great. going any higher will start to bottleneck your processor. the next upgrade should be a new cpu and motherboard.

And if I go for an Asus AMD Radeon HD 7770 2GB GDDR5? Would that be compatible?

that is compatible, but it is older, and not as good as the 750. the 750 is alot better
