Hi, We are trying to figure out how we can hook up 2 LG monitors as an extended desktop- not screen cloning. We originally had a computer with two ports- One DVI and one VGA that we ran the two monitors on. Now we have one VGA port and one HDMI port. What do we have to do or buy to make the monitors work on this computer? Thank you

I'm guessing that neither of the monitors has an HDMI port? You can get a VGA to HDMI adapter or a VGA splitter.

All you have to do is get a splitter so You can plug 2 monitors in 1 port. Then you can toggle with the settings or find software.

*NOTE* I notice one of your tags say Windows XP just a reminder XP is unsupported meaning Microsoft has little to do with it and there will be no security updates. If you are running XP I suggest upgrading your PC because XP is not stable any more. If you are not running XP please discard this note.

What are the ports on the monitors? Just VGA?

VGA splitters do what they say: they "split" the signal, meaning it will be identical on both displays. You can't run extended desktop with a simple splitter.

Verify the DVI monitor is DVI-I or DVI-D (both of those dvi types will work with digital signals).
If it is them buy an HDMI to DVI adapter.

Something like this:

(not that I'm recommending this exact one, always buy from a trusted seller)
