hi all, i have a lenovo y580 and even after some mx-4 and having a max temp of 73c on full load for hours, my only hdd gets freaking 62c in 15 mins of skyrim. I would like to know if i buy a hdd caddy and put it there would i be able to use windows as before or the caddy is only meant as a 2nd hdd.

lenovo y580
i5 3210m
gtx 660m
1366x768
12gb ram
750gb 5400rpm hdd on fire

ps: i never use the dvd drive so i won't mind.

Try and clean any dust or dirt out, that is usually the issue when laptops get hot, also i doubt a hdd caddy will solve the temp issue. What surface are you using the laptop on?

(When i had a laptop it sometimes reached 95c :/)

Agreed; the caddy will not solve your issue. Laptops are compact so cooling isn't a friendly term to them. Cleanliness is next to godliness. Also, check your background processes and check for any malware, viruses etc.; the more processes running the more resources you're using which can cause excessive heat.

not to be mean bit did you read that my max temps are 73c, i mean on cpu and gpu while playing games for hours. other components stay kinda cool, funny thing under prime95 i get only 68c ahah. bf3 kiks my cpu temp ro 73c but normally stays in the 70 range. and don't you think i cleaned when i applied the mx-4?
