Hey I'm badly in need of some Gaming PC advice/help, I want to upgrade my rig (GPU) to get better textures and a better FPS within games but I hear all different things, my mobo is the Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 and my GPU is a Amd Radeon 6670, can anyone give me advice regarding which card to get, I only have a 450w psu too so if someone could pair a good GPU and PSU that would work well in my rig I would be extremely thankful! (ive recently OC'd my GPU a little bit and I'm still only now and then getting 30fps in Battlefield3 at low textures etc

Post your complete and detailed build

The GPU should fit in your case and be reliably powered by your PSU.

What budget?

Around £150-£200 maybe a touch more if a new psu is needed (for the more powerful card) its more the compatibility of my mobo with GPU's of which I am worried

Full build is as follows. (not 100% sure on the brands of all parts)
2TB HDD (Seagate)
16GB Ram
AMD Radeon 6670 GPU (2GB)
Windows 8 64bit
450W PSU
VIBOX Gaming Case
16GB Ram
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard
USB 2 and 3 Inputs

If anyone can recommend the best way for me to upgrade my Graphics situation I would greatly appreciate it!

What make and model PSU?

You could try a R9 280x - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Dual-X-Radeon-GDDR5-Gr... 205 quid

or GTX 760 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nvidia-GeForce-DirectCU-GDDR5-G... 175 quid

Either though and you'd need a new PSU eg 500W for the 760 or 600W for the 280x

XFX 650 63 quid - http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Edition-Bronze-Semi-Modular...

Antec HCG 620M 88 quid - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Hcg-620M-PC-Power-Supply/...

and then you'd have to check whether the card will fit in your case.

It's just a Vibox (Stock) 450W PSU, so i'm pretty sure i'd have to upgrade my PSU too, I heard something along the lines of 'your motherboard is a certain generation one so if you want a new GPU you'd have to get a new mobo to go with it'!? is this untrue? my CPU is a AMD FX6300 6 core and my motherboard is a Gigabyte 78LMT USB-3.

Thanks man!

and it's a mid tower case, pretty big so a larger graphics card shouldn't be an issue*

You should check the dimensions of the card and the maximum length supported by the case just to be safe

I will do thanks for the advice!, so if I got say the R9 280x or a GTX 760 my motherboard/processor wouldn't bottleneck the performance from the video cards?, so in theory the only thing bottlenecking my PC would be my low power 450W PSU? (which I would have to change anyway)

The FX6300 should run a R9 280x or GTX760 OK. As long as you have a psu that can reliably run it and the room in your case to fit the card.

For the 760 you'll need a 500W PSU. Or a 600W for the 280x. Try Seasonic, XFX or Antec HCG XXXM PSU's.

Thanks so much!! So there should be no problems with any of the faster GPU's with my motherboard too? When you say it should run ok does that mean it will run fine or?? (I know its hard to convey tone in text haha), yeah ill get a much more powerful PSU just to be sure!

I wouldn't go much past the 280x or gtx760 with a fx6300. Your mobo will cope. But maybe not your cpu.
