I'm building my first gaming PC, and my friend mentioned a CPU Heatsink, which I have no idea what he is on about. Should I get one?
My specs are:
- G-Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 Dual Kit - Red
- Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2 M-ATX Motherboard (Socket FM2+, A88X, DDR3, S-ATA 600)
- Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Midi Gaming Case USB3.0 Toolless White
- WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue
- SAPPHIRE AMD R7 265 Graphics Card (2GB, DDR5)
- AMD Athlon X4 760k Black Edition Quad Processor
- Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply Unit

Any help would be great

There should be a large block of metal sticking up from the center of your motherboard that usually has a fan on it. That is the CPU heatsink. I would suggest since you dont know what one is to not get one as they are slightly difficult to put on as you have to apply thermal paste.

Haha, no worries.
How good are you at judging a PC?
Would you be able to give me an overall result on how well my specs will run on a PC? I've had some good results, but also some criticism, and it's just confusing.

I'm ok. I'd say that you could run medium settings with low (2X) to no AA at 60fps. I would also say upgrade the CPU (currently: Athlon X4 760k) and GPU (currently: R7 265) if you havent already had it built.

I havent had it built yet.
I'm trying to look around for components around the same value but a bit more powerful. I'm only a student, so I do have a budget.

Lower your RAM kits speed and save a little cash there. Get a CHEAPO case and save a little there. Maybe youd save enough to upgrade the GPU to an R9 270 or 270x

Lower my RAM kit to something around 1866MHz?
My case is already pretty cheap now (£38-$63), and people do criticise over cheap cases as they can have serious problems. I don't mind going for a cheaper option, I just want something that, for the time being (a few months before I get some money) will stay strong and not break or damage anything.
And I was looking at the R9 270 and found it to be only £10 more than the R7 265. Is it worth it?
I'm also not sure on what CPU to upgrade to, as it'll need to fit into a FM2+ motherboard socket.

Do you think that it'll be fine the way it is for the next 3-4 months? By then, I'll be able to upgrade it.

You'd be fine but for the extra 10 I would upgrade to a R9 270
