Should I upgrade my ancient HTPC?

Hello. Was just wondering if it would be a good idea to maybe put in like $40-50 into my old HTPC that I made out of some old parts. I was thinking of just buying 4gb of generic ddr2 ram off ebay (I know I shouldn't be investing in a DDR2 system but whatever :p) and like one of those super cheap Radeon HD 5450's that you can get for like $20 and they use next to no power. Right now I have a 3400 which works ok but I kinda want my system to run a bit smoother and maybe be able to play really old games like tf2, garrys mod, minecraft, etc. on it better than what I have right now. I was thinking of just buying a new gaming system in a few months but it's really hard to wait as I am getting daily BSOD's and crashes from what I believe to be the dying RAM that I have. Should I upgrade now or just wait?

How much RAM do you have? If less than 2gb then upgrade.
Go for the GPU but i suggest something newer like a 750(~$105 though)

WAIT TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER!
DDR4 will be out soon and speeds will be better so at least wait until it is released.

I'm not going to wait for DDR4 that's just ridiculous. Even if I end up buying a new computer it's going to be like a budget $350 gaming build and i'm sure anything to do with DDR4 would cost outrageous premiums. Also I only have a gig right now so the upgrade to 4 gigs I figured would be pretty immense especially considering it only costs $20-25 for generic stuff. Also I wouldn't invest $105 for a graphics card with a DDR2 machine running an old AMD dual core...

`My current computer specs are as follows:
Windows 7 32 bit (would get 64 if I got more RAM)
AMD athlon x2 5400 (2.89 Ghz OC'd)
Radeon HD 3400
1 GB of DDR2 800 mhz RAM
500 GB WD Caviar Blue HDD

I would mostly use it for watching videos, playing some old games, and maybe do a bit of my school work on it.
