I want to get an upgrade from the athlon x4 760k CPU but I don't want to spent a lot, I'm just looking for a decent replacement for a about 3-4 months.
I haven't built it yet, so of course I CAN just use the 760k, but I'm not sure how well it'll run with a r9 270 GPU on medium quality.

Well if you want to go cheap and long lasting Go for an Intel if you are just gaming. Maybe a cheap i3 and pair it up with a low end GPU like R7 240 or a GeForce 650.

The problem here is that if you've already got the Athlon X4 760K, that means you have a socket FM2 motherboard. You don't have a whole lot of options for a cheap upgrade on that platform—pretty much just APUs, none of which are much faster (if at all) and are actually a bit pricey for this sort of usage.

I'd recommend making the jump to a Core i5-4690(K) all at once when you're able to do so. The 760K is low-end but its really isn't that bad. It might limit some games, but its not like the R9 270 is ultra high-end itself. Its a great overclocker too, so that may be an easy way to get a few more months out of it.

If you have an FM2 socket motherboard, you have the best you're going to get, currently. If you have FM2+, soon the Athlon 860K will be hitting the shelves, and that may be worth the upgrade, depending on the overclock potential.

Otherwise, any upgrade will depend on purchasing a new motherboard.
