I was playing metro last light when my computer turned off randomly. I replaced my ram, didn't help. And I checked the power connecter thats in the mobo, and nothing. My specs are
Video Card : GTX 780ti
Mobo : MSI Z87 G45
Ram :Corsair DDR3 16gb
cpu : I7 4770k

Its currently insanely hot in my room, could it be over heating?

I think perhaps your CPU heat sink failed and the motherboard is detecting this and shuts off. The heat could have resulted in the shut off last night. Perhaps your PSU is not strong enough, but it could be the CPU fan failure likely.

How would I fix my cpu from failing?

The most likely issue is the PSU. If it's a mediocre-quality brand, such as a Corsair CX600, then I would suggest replacing that with a SeaSonic or XFX.

You might need an after market cooler.

A hot room is not good for the PC. I usually turn my AC thermostat down to about 75°F when playing games like Battlefield 4 to keep my CPU temps at acceptable levels. (I live in Texas, so the summers are usually hot and humid.)

Your CPU might be bad, I had the same dilemma as yourself. I notice that my computer would normally freeze after a few minutes of use. I have an i7 4930K and never encounter a bad CPU so I troubleshoot everything and changed nearly everything, getting the same results. I finally changed the CPU to a lower model Ivy bridge CPU and everything worked flawlessly. I had the CPU warranty. In your case, I can almost guarantee that if you change the CPU your computer will run normally.

I do have an after market cooler, so that shouldn't be the problem. As for the heat, should I let it just cool off? Try it again in a hour? Or is it a faulty part?

My computer never froze, the fans turn on for a second and shut off. I really hope its not a faulty part, I'll use that as a last resort

You can replace the CPU fan, if your problem continues, it's your CPU.
