hi, thank you for your answer ... the problem is on my wife computer , I put an external mouse and it did work , so i am running an antivirus now and i have cleared all the open windows but i don't know how to restore her mouse ( using the tracking pad ) to full use . The cursor appear for 10 s at the start then disappear and is not usable . Please could you help .. one solution given on the forum was that possibly the tracking pad was disabled , how do i check if it is correct ?

thanks for every answer, I solved my problem using a mix of the solutions given .
I managed to get into the control panel then it was easy to solve and also changed the mouse.
so all is well
