Hey guys,
I just finished up the base for my new rig, and am interested in making some improvements

Here are the specs:
AMD fx-6300 OCed to 4.3 stable
MSI motherboard
8GB (1x 8gb) ddr3-1600
500w PSU
R7 250 OCed]
ubuntu 14.04/win8.1

Should I add another r7 250 or wait it out and get a better single GPU? I would rather crossfire, the MOBO is 16x and 8x
PS tell me what you thinks of me rig, its my first one.

MSI motherboard is pretty general. What model? What brand and model of R7 250 do you have, there are many and are perform differently. What is the model number of your 500w PSU. All PSU's are certainly not created equally and considering it's the most important part of your rig, it's kind of important when adding multiple cards.

What is the exact model of your PSU?
What is the exact name of the R7?
What is the exact model of your MSI mobo? :p

Hm.
You can Crossfire,it's no problem with that mobo.
But not with that PSU.
I would suggest buying a new 550W PSU,which will be just enough for your system.XFX TS 550W sounds like an option to me. :)
Hope this helps. :)

No, do not crossfire that card. I think you will be better off just grabbing a cheap 270x. You will get twice the performance and some 270x are only $150. Shop around for a good deal.

Nothing wrong with that PSU, it's a third Tier on Tom's list. Not the best, but it's "ok". It's kind of pointless with that card though. As mentioned, a single 270x would be a much better option although it would be much more expensive than adding another R7 250. By the time you added another PSU to handle the additional voltage requirements of a crossfire setup (The 250 calls for a 400w PSU and add another 75w for a second card) you're up around the price of a decent sapphire R9 270x card. Plus the single 270X will have fewer issues with drivers and there will be less chance of problems. It will perform better as well. You can get a decent card here:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X Video Card ($178.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $178.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I wouldn't recommend the MSI and Diamond cards that are priced lower than the Sapphire, too many issues with them as you'll see if you google those cards.

What these guys said.
I'm really tired,so I can't think straight. :p
But the 270X would be a better choice. :)

That makes no sense. By the time he buys that PSU and another card, he could have had a decent single card and not needed another PSU.
