I was getting a bit lower performance than usual in summer while playing games like batttlefield 3 so i checked my cpu/gpu temps. Cpu while being idle is at about 30c and when playing demanding games like bf3 it goes up to 90c which is too high. Was my cpu underclocking when playing bf3 ? did it get damaged because of high temp ? (pc never shut down i just got lower performance on bf3). How can i check if it got damaged?

Inspect the CPU fan to make sure it is running and if necessary replace the fan. Fan failure causes your CPU to overheat and your computer to randomly power down, and can result in permanent processor damage.

You might not damaged the chip yet, but you need to change the CPU cooler a.s.a.p. Until you get a new cooler play on medium settings and make sure you have a good airflow inside the case. Whats your pc specs btw?
