No question the 780 for that resolution. The 770 would run out of power before benefiting from the 1GB additional Vram it has.

The extra VRAM won't make a difference as gaming/ intensive tasks in 4k itself are very heavy for the GPU. 770 won't just cut it, how much ever VRAM is put with it. For a single 4k, 3GB is a good amount to go with! :)

GTX 780 wins here by a huge margin in terms of performance, memory isn't a concern on single display.

PS: Don't forget to consider the R9 290, its just as good (I've a Tri X on my 4k and it works great, PM me if you wanna know more) :)

The 780.

Both would struggle with 4k gaming though.

Neither can handle 4k.

To be honest, 4k is not practical right now. Just go with 1440p and a 780.

for single 4k you need 780ti sli, not 780 or 770 :)  But 3gb vram is fine , 780 is more powerful so it makes up for the 1gb less vram
