Hello fellow humans of planet Earth,

Recently, my computer has not been able to the BIOs screen (when I attempt to enter BIOs using F2/Del, the screen just goes blank), and sometimes when I start my PC, I don't even get the splash screen at all. However, one time it did manage to start up. I thought I was home free until after just a few minutes of usage the screen turns into this...

(the white spot in the middle is the reflection from my laptop computer screen, don't mind it)

Here are the specs for the system (excluding storage and peripherals)

  • ■CPU: Intel i7 4770k
    ■CPU Fan: Stock Intel Fan
    ■Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
    ■RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB)
    ■Video Card: AMD R9 270x (PowerColor)
    ■PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 850W
    ■Monitor: Asus VS239NR
    ■OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
I've tried many things, such as breadboarding (isolated problem to video card), unplugging and reinserting the GPU (no change), running the system using integrated graphics on the motherboard (system works perfectly), and unplugging and reinserting RAM (...haha).

It should be noted that when I plug my monitor into my motherboard (with an integrated video card) the system runs fine, and thus the problem must be with the video card...does anyone know any solutions to fixing it? Also, if the video card is done for, what video card would you guys suggest for doing 3D work/video editing/gaming/other demanding tasks?

Thanks,
