Hello,

So I bought the r9 270x Hawk OC edition from MSI. After 4 months it broke I returned the gpu and got a new one. But the problem with this one is the usage and the heating of the card, sometimes when I launch the game the usage is all the way up to 100% and getting a temprature between 90-100 degress celcius.
But after restarting the game several times it is a stable heat arround 40-60 without the max usage. I tried this on multiple games, I tried it on a game from 2002 and the it goes up to a 100%. APB is also a game that I play 5/10 times the usage is 100% and this is when I start the game so there should be much gpu pwer needed.

Is this card broken?

My specs:
Motherboard: MSI G45-z87 Gaming motherboard.
CPU:i7 4770K
GPU: MSI R9 270X Hawk OC
PSU:Corsair 600Watt

I created a little video where you see that the temprature and usage changes everytime.
In this video I could not fully show when it is sometimes 100% usage and sometimes 50% but it
happens.

in this picture you see 100% usage and low temp

Restarting your PC may be restarting a hidden program running in the background as well. Make sure you don't have crypto-malware mining software on your PC. It will put a lot of load on your GPU at random times to mine for coins.

Hopefully this isn't the case, but try Malware-bytes and a few other anti malware programs and make sure to use a firewall and anti-virus when on the web.

Restarted my pc several times, I ran Malware-bytes several times and Anti-Virus is running.
I created a little video it doesn't show the whole thing where it sometimes works correctly and sometimes not I will update my post with the video.

Thanks for the quick respond

100% GPU usage is NORMAL
But 90+* is not. EIther it is an airflow problem or a card problem

And because it sometimes is being good temprature and sometimes not would you think a card problem?

Have you seen the pictures?

Should I return the card then?

Notice the super low GPU usage.
Run an intensive benchmark like Unigine valley or heaven.

Under normal conditions it should not be possible for the card to hit 90* even under maximum worst case load

I ran heaven and after about 5 secondes the heat started raising to 90+ when I came to the boat part it was already 100
