I have an Xfinity router that my pc is hard-wired to along with a "G-Box". This router also supports a wireless lan which my wife's laptop and our shared printer uses. We are about to "re-model" our home and my wife does NOT want to see a "hard" Ethernet connection wire going from the Xfinity router (which is next to my PC), to my "G-Box" which will be next to the TV in a different room. Can I purchase a 2nd router and just connect a "hard" ethernet connection from the new router to my G-Box w/o affecting the Xfinity router that will still be supporting my PC, and wireless devices??

The device you are looking for is called a client-bridge or many times a media gateway. Does the device itself not directly support wireless.

If you are remodeling the house I would be running as much ethernet cable as you possibly can while the walls are ripped up. Nothing will exceed the speed of a ethernet cable.

Just be sure every time your tv gets freezing and pixelation to comment that it sure look nice compared to that ugly ethernet cable...well until she throws you out the house.

Thanks bill001g.....

Unfortunately the "re-modeling" doesn't include tearing out walls. I will look into the client-bridge/media gateway solution. Appreciate your help! Just want my XBMC G-Box to work as well as it currently does with a "hard-wired" ethernet connection........or at least as close to that as I can get!!

Again, thanks!!
