Was it the worst time to build a new Machine? Should I have waited for x99?

I just finished my build this past weekend:

-i7 4790k
-Corsair HX 850i
-GTX670 2-way SLI
-Corsair Vengence 16GB
-Asus Sabertooth Mark I Z97
-Some ssd's

yada yada

Did I make a big mistake? Should I have saved that money and waited for the X99 and Haswell-e?

I can still return all this stuff. Should I? I use my game for gaming, and want it to be future proof. Sure, technology keeps updating constantly and can never really future proof anything, but I think that x99 is bringing HUGE changes that are definitely worth it.

Haswell-E is the same as getting an extreme processor (ie one that supports more PCI lanes) and isn't really necessary unless you want to benchmark or spend a ton of money.

The only time you would want one is when you are doing 3 or more GPU arrays because the boards themselves will have more x16 lanes and the CPU supports more PCI as well as 4 channels of memory (which also really doesn't help gaming that much).

What are you talking about guys ? I mean NEVER EVER get old tech. I mean I got my X58 setup when It came out , yes I had to replace GPU but it still kick ass ... come on. Return and get X99 !

I am not even do go there. If you don't see a diffirence Between Enthusiast level platform (X Series) and Let's say Z or H I have nothing to say. Always invest in Best Technology and it will save you money in long run. I mean I rather spend Extra 500$ or so and make sure this thing is for like 5 years than getting something that will be outdated in few years. Like for me right now because I am bottle necked on my i7 920 I can't get anything better GPU wise I have HD6970 and I had to OC my CPU to 3.32GHz to get somewhat good results otherwise I'd had to get new mobo and everything years ago. Again for Gaming GPU is most important thing so invest in GOOD GPU but if you truly want future proof like I do, Get X99. I am getting my list in order for my X99 setup I"ll be getting within 60 days. Can't want to see all things they have to offer. M.2 Here I come :D
