Like the title says I am trying to overclock a computer I just got built and I am having problems with the temps being to high. Supposedly the h97 chipswt is not supposed to allow overclocking but this mb does allow it. I have downloaded all recent bios updates and driver updates for the system. I have stress tested the system at stock speeds and i get around 78 degrees . I have toyed with the voltages and everything but everything I do the processor goes over 80 degrees with any overclock. I have tried finding tutorials to read on the net but i havent had any luck. I Primarily i use the computer only to game and the games i play are bf4, tomb raider, minecraft, reckoning:kingdom of amular etc I guess the real question is, is it worth overclocking will I get more noticeable performance. The system specs are as follows.

Intel I5 4690k
ASRock H97M motherboard
Sapphire r9 280x video card
750 watt corsair modular psu
8 gigs ddr3 1600mhz Kingston memory
1 tb western digital hard drive.
90 gb ocz

Thanks in advance

H97 DO NOT support OCing. You can't really OC with that MoBo. Wrong match for the CPU. OCing on this would only cause problems (like high temps). Now your only options are either give up on OCing on this MoBo or get a new Z series one to be able to OC.
Yes you can get performance difference in CPU intensive games like BF4. And its worth every penny you spend to OC that CPU, its a gamer's gem CPU.

Thanks a bunch luckily I got the board from micro center only a few days ago and I can return it and get a z97 board. The store clerk never told me that I tried doing some research but it wasn't until after put it together I found definitive answers
