Hi guys, I am an amature computer technician and an avid WOW player, I am currently thinking about upgrading my current system because I can only run wow on high and not ultra atm, I am looking at getting an AMD FX-8350 and a sapphire R9 270x on top of having 8GB Vengance RAM and I was just wondering would this be worth the upgrade from my Current AMD QC 5500k GTX 650? I mean is it worth the £300 ?

More about : run wow ultra fps

You will not be able to run WOW on all ultra(not atleast with AA max). For a £300 budget, you should get a Nvidia gtx 760/ Amd R9 280 instead of r9 270x.

Maybe I worded this poorly, I already have a system in place that can run wow on High Setting and get a constant 60 FPS I just thinking with £300 I am able to afford an FX-8350 and an R9 270x, this will be replacing my current AMD QC 5500k and Geforce GTX 650, and I was wondering with this upgrade should it go from high 60 fps to ultra on 60 fps

Maybe save some money and get a 6300 but this depends on what the pc is used for. If its used for solely gaming then a 6300 should be fine, if you use CPU Intensive applications then the 8350 will help

Save your money on CPU don't buy fx-8350, rather buy fx-8320 and good cooler like noctua nh-d14 or nh-d15 and then overclock 8320 (it's so easyy)
Why? Because fx-8350 is just an overclocked fx-8320 :D

Hyper evo 212(cheaper cooler) will be also good but you will be able to clock it less.. it will still run faster than fx-8350

For graphics I'd also go for gtx770, if you're too low on budged then r9 280 (not so expensive, pick ASUS one :)  )

ok I will defo look into the FX-8320 but how much of a saving is it in the end, I have been looking into better CPU coolers as the AMD ones are usually very loud so I will defo take your recommendation on that one, I will also be using the graphics for 3D rendering as I use Maya is the GTX 770 still better or dose the R9 280 pull ahead ?

Hm if you will use 3D video rendering I would go for r9 280x then.. gtx 770 and r9 280x are about the same price (r9 280x maybe even cheaper)
The reason why is because R9 280x has a wider bus width, more shader units, and generally runs better with both DirectX and OpenGL applications than the GTX 770...
Make sure to go for Asus directCU oc version of the either graphic card you choose because they have better speeds and better cooling then other graphic card brands (at least from my point of view)

Please avoid Asus r9 280x. It has many artifacting problems(check youtube0. I myself have to refund my Asus R9280x. Better go for sapphire or Powercolor R9280x.

Driver fixes it but still if don't want to risk with asus, SAPPHIRE TRI-X R9 280X is an awesome card as well...

Here is the video what is the issue about... download driver manually :)
