Hi

Could you please confirm the following for me please.

I will be ordering my parts soon and I would not want to be stuck for having ordered the wrong parts. I am still debating between these 2 CPU's and these 2 motherboards.

I would like to know if the Pentium G3258 or the I3-4150 would work with the following 2 motherboards WITHOUT HAVING TO FLASH THE BIOS. The mobos are:

GA-H97M-HD3
GA-H97-D3H

I want to put the CPU in the motherboard and be good to go without any bios flashing (too risky for me (first build)

Thank you

You are right to not want to ever have to flash the bios.

Both motherboards will come with the most current bios available at the time of manufacture.

Initial release of both motherboards included the F3 bios which supported the i3-4150.
The F4 bios was released 6/4 which supported the G3258.
The latest bios, F5 was released 6/26.
By now, all stock that is reasonably fresh will support either cpu.
And... I think the G3258 will run on the first release at stock, needing the F4 bios only for the overclocking capabilities.

The G3258 is fun if you are prepared to overclock.
Otherwise, I think the i3-4150 would be the better pick.

So, if I understand you correctly, you are not 100% positive that the pentium G3258 could work without any flashing ? You just say " I think..." which implies you are not 100 % sure.

I live in Canada and I am planning on buying my parts from Newegg. ca

Thanks
